Week after week, our team receives and showcases stunning weddings from across Iowa, all courtesy of the immensely talented wedding vendors and lovely couples who submit to us. Each month, our editorial team selects one spectacular wedding to highlight, one that stands above the rest for its uniqueness and beauty. Read on to learn about our October 2024 Vows that Wow couple, Allison & Matt!

How the Couple Met

This couple’s journey began as the two became close friends all throughout high school and college. Of course, they spent a lot of time together being in the same friend group and created so many memories that way. Eventually, they realized they loved spending time together and enjoy each other’s families so much and decided it was time to take the next step and start dating. Nothing quite like marrying your best friend!

The Wedding Day

Allison and Matt’s wedding was a dream come true, featuring a soft light blue color palette complemented by beautiful white florals. This fairytale of a day took place in the heart of Des Moines at the historical Des Moines Heritage Center. It served as the perfect backdrop for their soft and delicate color scheme and the perfect place to celebrate with their closest friends and family. The ceremony and cocktail hour took place outside on the open plaza where guests could enjoy the beautiful weather, while the reception unfolded in the elegant and bright indoor space.

Cambam Floral played a huge role in continuing the dreamy aesthetic, with a beautiful bridal bouquet for Allison in her gorgeous Jenny Yoo gown and veil from Rosalie Bridal and smaller ones for the girls standing in blue by her side. One of our favorite parts was the stunning floral installation from the ceiling! It was perfect hanging above the dance floor as the two took part in their cake cutting and special dances.

Speaking of dancing, thanks to JM3 DJs, the dance floor was alive all night long, packed with their closest loved ones eager to celebrate the newlyweds. We loved how Allison switched into the cutest short dress, adding a touch of something blue to her own look, perfectly complemented by her cowgirl boots!

A few of our favorite details included the delicate blue ribbons tied to the edges of the ceremony chairs and the head table at the reception, adding the perfect, charming touch. The Generations of Love table during cocktail hour served as a heartfelt tribute to their loved ones and their love stories, highlighting how important family was to their day! Allison also wore her grandma’s pearl earring and necklace as well as her great grandma’s ring. And we loved the bride’s special surprise for the groom—a golf ball cake that read “fore ever!”

Allison & Matt’s Favorite Wedding Day Memory

Allison shared, “Our favorite wedding day memory had to be the ceremony. We learned about a special blessing of the rings – which we incorporated so that our family could take part in the ceremony in some way. Our grandparents, parents, and wedding party all took a moment to bless the rings. This was so special as our closest family and friends mean so much to us!”

One Thing The Couple Learned While Planning

Allison shared further, “One thing we learned while planning our wedding was the importance of prioritizing what truly matters to Matt and I. With so many details to consider, we focused on our shared values and vision to help make the process enjoyable and ensure the day reflects us!”
